We should start to see some activity in New Jersey nests very soon. Check back frequently for updates!

Friends of Blackwater is officially welcoming their two new eaglets into the world! After such a harsh winter, they were a little worried this day wouldn’t come, but their eaglets hatched right on time and look very healthy, thanks to incredible parents. The first egg was laid January 20 and hatched early in the evening on February 26. The second egg was laid January 23 and hatched early in the morning on February 28. At this point the father eagle has brought in several good-sized fish, so the chicks and mother eagle have plenty of food. A ranger said one of the fish looked like a gizzard shad for those who are interested in fish species.
