Wild New Jersey Exclusive: Dismal Swamp Conservation Area winter transect

The Dismal Swamp frozen over.
There's nothing like a hike on a 25-degree day to get the blood flowing. Edison Wetlands Association recently began its second annual Dismal Swamp Conservation Area winter transects. Bird life was abundant, with woodpeckers and nesting songbirds spotted frequently, and mammal tracks criss-crossing the trails. The first transect took place in the hardwood forested wetlands of the Edison portion, where frozen wetlands and numerous streams would make travel difficult without the ice.

Hunting is a major threat to wildlife in the Dismal Swamp and is illegal. Is a false statement and this site shouldn't be propagating such things. Without hunting there would be no animals at all.

We are in no way against hunting. It is a fact and not opinion that hunting in the Dismal Swamp IS illegal.
