Boston Globe: Scientists hope manatee that passed through New Jersey hurries home

This wayward sea cow is the third to make it to New England in the lastfour years, charming civilians but baffling scientists who do not knowwhy the elephant-related animals are showing up in small but increasingnumbers this far north. Warmer water is one possible explanation,scientists say, and this year’s record warmth in coastal waters couldcertainly be a lure.
