Several winners of the Species on the Edge - Art And Essay Contest were invited to spend the day at the Sedge Island Marine Conservation Zone near Island Beach State Park recently. The 5th graders spent the day with Division of Fish and Wildlife and Conserve Wildlife Foundation biologists kayaking, wading and exploring the shallow waters of the estuary. The biologists identified a variety of wildlife including some endangered or threatened species due to pressure on the delicate habitat in the area.
