Jenkinson's Aquarium is hosting a "Flying WILD Educator Training" for educators and those who just love birds.  The Seabird Ecological Assessment Network (SEANET) fieldtrip and educator training will be held on Saturday, August 22 from 9:00am-4:00pm at Jenkinson's Aquarium in Point Pleasant Beach.

The program offers a chance to walk on the beach and count birds as a SEANET volunteer.  According to the event organizers, the SEANET program is a citizen science program.  SEANET volunteers conduct beached bird surveys in order to identify and record information about bird mortality along the east coast of the United States.

After counting birds on the beach, the group will walk back to Jenkinson's Aquarium for lunch and an afternoon of Flying WILD educator training.  Flying WILD is an exciting education program that introduces students to bird conservation through hands-on activities, bird festivals, and community service projects.

The training will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2009 from 9:00am-4:00pm.  The group will meet at Jenkinson's Aquarium at 9:00am.  Each participant will receive a copy of Flying WILD: An Educator's Guide to Celebrating Birds and a CD containing "Copy Me" pages from the guide.

There is a $20 registration fee for this workshop.  Participants must bring their own bag lunch.  Beverages and snacks will be offered throughout the day.

For more information or to register, email jenkinsonsaquarium@comcast.net or call Danni Logue at 732-899-1659.  The deadline for registration is August 15.
