The Nature Center of Cape May is going green Wednesday, August 5 with its first ever "Eco-Festival." The summer "Family Fun-Raiser" will feature hands-on activities and kids’ crafts that highlight many different aspects of leading an environmentally friendly lifestyle.
Exhibitors include solar power energy company, Energy Enterprises, a bio-diesel automobile and CariAnne Slotterback with her fashionable accessories made from recycled plastic bags. The nature center’s Junior 4-H Interns will have their Farmer’s Market open with their homegrown plants and veggies.
In addition, the center’s Charlotte Van Leer Todd Environmental Education Hall currently features a traveling art exhibition entitled “Young Voices 2009, Horseshoe Crabs in the Arts.” This annual, juried art competition features depictions of the prehistoric arthropod by children from all around the globe and includes visual arts, short stories and poetry. As a part of “Eco-Festival,” program director Sue Slotterback will give a presentation on the ancient Horseshoe Crab, and there will be a formal opening of the art exhibition.
Join the Nature Center of Cape May for an evening of green games, eco-demonstrations, crafts, music, and food. It promises to be eco-fun for the whole family. The admission is $10.00 per person, which includes food and all activities.
