Wild New Jersey Exclusive: No whales, but nearly 100 dolphins on a Cape May whale watch

Cape May Whale Watcher brings New Jersey families out every day into the rich waters of the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay in search of whales, dolphins, and other marine life. Though known for its incredible birding, Cape May also offers the best region in the Garden State for encountering cetaceans.
Wild New Jersey's David Wheeler recently joined a whale watching tour that launched from the Cape May Harbor area. The boat hadn't even left the Cape May Canal when the first dolphin was spotted, just past the canal mouth on the Delaware Bay. The first bottlenose sighting soon was joined by groups of 2, 3 and 4, with bottlenose dolphins on all sides of the boat at some points. Though no whales were spotted on this tour, the dolphins and abundant birdlife - from osprey and egrets to American oystercatcher - stole the show.
