                A flathead catfish

The third confirmed catch of the invasive flathead catfish in New Jersey has occurred in the Fireman's Hole in Lambertville along the Delaware River.  Growing up to 100 pounds, the flathead is particularly destructive for American shad during their spawning run.  Two previous catches occurred in New Jersey's Delaware River in earlier this year and in 2008.
