Dana Patterson, correspondent for WildNewJersey.tv, joined Bill Lynch, founder of the New Jersey Outdoors Blog, in exploring the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge and Round Valley Reservoir this past weekend for the Great Backyard Bird Count.  Over 30 different birds were spotted, including two long-eared owls, golden-crowned kinglets and an eared-grebe.  The long-eared owls, which commonly breed in pairs, made for a terrific sighting as they were perched just above eye level across the road.  Click here for additional photos.
