On December 13, 2008, Wild New Jersey's David Wheeler explored an otherworldly crystal ice forest along a mountain ridge on the Appalachian Trail by High Point State Park.  A glistening coat of ice from a passing ice storm had covered everything in the mountaintop forest, creating an enchanted wild winterland for the bobcats, black bears and fisher that live here.  See below for photos, and click on this link from Youtube for footage from this stunning once-in-a-lifetime scene:

Extremely interesting article. Love to hear more about the ice storm and the animals at High Point in the winter. Thi storm must have chased most animals to lower elevations creating a denser wildlife community.
